ACPI joins Asian business matching for creative economy in Phuket, Thailand
The Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) joins the very first Asian business matching for creative economy (ACE) 2009 which will be held at Phuket, Thailand from June 22-26. Joining ACPI in this trade mission is one of ACPI's newest members, Entheos IT, Inc.
The creative content or digital content industry has been growing rapidly for the past 10 years. The global animation industry is valued at $US 60 billion, while the game industry generates an annual revenue of $US 33 billion. Both public and private sectors from several countries have already laid out their strategies to leverage and strengthen these industries for the global competitiveness and sustainability. And at this time of global economic slump, Thailand believes that Asia should work together in building robust alliances among Asian nations, and thus, ACE 2009 was born.
ACE 2009 is organized by the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, and the Department of Export Promotion (DEP) under the Ministry of Commerce in Thailand.
SIPA was established to promote the software and digital content industry of Thailand. For the past five years, the Thai animation and game industry has grown at least 15% every year. To date, many Thai companies have been participating in several international events to showcase the output that they have.
This special trade mission will be attended by almost 100 companies from Singapore, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand to do business matching and networking.
Most of the participating companies are into Flash, 2D, 3D animation, game development, online gaming, gaming in education, e-learning, content development and distribution, mobile content development, distribution and publishing, ICT training, interactive media development, entertainment business, and outsourcing services.
